Someone Needs to Do Their Research

June 12, 2008

And that someone is me! I guess I was posting “in the moment” when I published my post “Voice Text With iPhone: A Call to All Developers.”

I knew about a few services such as Twitterfone that did voice to tweet but I didn’t know about Jott until Paul Salzman sent a tweet about it. Jott works great with voice recognition like Twitterfone. An awesome feature with Jott is that you can import your Address Book contacts and send voice-to-text messages right from their service. This would really help me, especially when I’m trying to text and drive – the iPhone keyboard can only recognize so many mistakes :P (I in NO WAY condone texting and driving). You can also connect your Jott to your Twitter account!

Twitterfone is available through invite only but Jott is free and public.

Captcha on Roids

June 12, 2008

This is a hardcore Captcha on Softpedia! This has probably been around for a while but I just now have come across one. It gives you a simple math problem, asks you to compute the answer and input it.

I have a hard time with some of the regular Captchas as it is, now you have to add math? :P

iPhone 3G Selling On Ebay… Already?

June 12, 2008

I was searching tonight Ebay, curious to see what iPhones were selling now that Steve dropped that bomb on us at WWDC on pricing. Some iPhones were selling for $200-$300 dollars, which sort of shocked me. The real jaw-dropper was seeing that iPhone 3G was on already on Ebay for Pre-Order!

The first listing I saw for a 16GB iPhone 3G had already reached $620! That’s almost two iPhones! Why? And how on Earth was this guy/girl (lets call him/her Ebay dude) going to get two phones? Maybe he’s willing to travel to two of the three Apple Stores in Ohio (Ebay dude is from Dayton, 60 miles from the Columbus and Cincinnati Apple Stores, 160 miles from the Lyndhurst Apple Store), but he isn’t getting is money’s worth by doing that on gas alone. It has been confirmed by AT&T and Apple that online ordering would not be available because activation is mandatory in store. Maybe Ebay dude or the potential winner of this auction has no clue. The ID has been kept private so I can’t warn the winner.

Before I thought of all this, I almost jumped into the scene too. If I were to do that though, I’d have to travel to two Apple Stores in Orlando (which is only 5 miles apart) which wouldn’t be too bad but I run the risk the second store finding about my first purchase or running out.

Too much risk involved, I’ll just get my iPhone 3G and be happy!

I’ll be at the Orlando Apple Store covering the launch, East Coast style – although I’d rather be in the San Francisco Store :P – so point your browsers here for video, blogging, and antics!
